Dr. Gary McCrummen

Dr. Gary McCrummen has been married since 1975, and has two grown sons.  One is a licensed paramedic/fireman, and the other has a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Bigfork Community Service History

President of the following organizations: The Bigfork Chamber of Commerce, Bigfork Development Company, The Bigfork Professional Center Condominium Organization, The Woods Bay Water Association, started The Bigfork Rod and Gun Club.  Member of: American Dental Association, Montana Dental Association, 1st District Dental Society, The Bigfork Community players (as an actor), Kalispell Elks Club.  Firearm’s Safety and Proficiency instructor and youth teacher for The Bigfork Gun Club, provided free school children’s dental screenings, and was on the Emergency Dentist On-Call team of volunteer dentists for the Flathead Valley area for many years.

After graduating from High School, Dr. McCrummen was an Assistant Airport Manager, obtained his private pilot license, and enlisted in the Air Force from 1968-1972.  While in the service he received Expert Marksman ranking, was selected as Squadron Leader in Biloxi, Mississippi, received Airman of the Year award for military performance, church and community service, and was in several community plays in Texas, volunteered at a “Home for the Mentally Disabled” in Higginsville, Missouri, and was shipped overseas for two years. After Honorable Discharge, and while attending college in the daytime he worked as a midnight shift supervisor for the Xerox Corporation in the computer test division, was a medical orderly at the Morrison Nursing Home in CO, was a Surgical Orderly, phlebotomist, EMT, and Hospital Diener (performed all of the hospital autopsies) at St. Anthony’s Trauma Hospital, and during the first year of dental school was a phlebotomist for Bonfils Blood Bank in Denver, Colorado.

Dr. McCrummen has presented “Swing-Lock Partial Denture Designs” to the Thompson Study club, has published articles on superior dental crown and bridge techniques for Creative Arts Dental Publications, has written dental articles in his newspaper column for over 11 years, and has written letters in opposition to false advertising in dentistry to The American Dental Association which appeared in both the ADA and MDA publications.  Locally he has given dental in-service presentations to nursing home employees when he was the resident dentist, gave presentations to the Bigfork Senior Citizen Center on oral care, presented an anti-tobacco seminar at Bigfork High School, voluntarily taught Oral Health Care in middle school for several years, and taught the art of jewelry making at The Bigfork Art and Cultural Center.
